Please note that the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts prohibits the following items inside the theatre: food, drinks, tripods, monopods, balloons, confetti, noisemakers, signs, air horns, baby carriers, and strollers. If you bring any of these items, you will be required to check these items at the Patron Services counter in the lobby before entering the theater.

This convocation is fully dedicated to chemistry graduates, bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. degree candidates. Each graduate in attendance will be recognized individually and will receive a diploma cover.
Tickets will be required at the Chemistry Convocation and can be requested once the graduation information form is sent to you via email and put online. There is a 15 ticket initial limit for graduates; additional tickets may be available on a first-come, first-serve basis the week before the event.
Caps and Gowns:
Graduates and candidates must order their cap and gowns on the web (http://www.herffjones.com/illinois) by April 11, 2013. If you are unable to submit your order via the web, there are three dates for on-campus fittings:
March 27, 2013: 10 AM - 3 PM
April 3, 2013: 10 AM- 3 PM
April 11, 2013: 10 AM - 3 PM
All on-campus fittings will take place at the Illini Union Bookstore.
Please note that the Department of Chemistry does not provide a
photographer for our ceremony. Our ceremony is informal in nature and there
will be ample time for family and friends to photograph their graduate.
Contact Jessica Shelvik, Patron Services Director at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (217-333-9716) at least one (1) week prior to the commencement. Please be prepared to provide the following information: which commencement you are attending, specific accessibility need(s), how many people there are in the party, and a contact person in the party. When you arrive, you will need to indicate that you have a reservation under this name. An advanced reservation is the ONLY way your entire party will able to be seated together in our accessible seating areas. Any unclaimed reservations will be forfeited two (2) minutes before the ceremony begins.
There is a garage located beneath Krannert Center, but spaces are extremely limited. Street parking may be available, but you should plan on allowing ample time to find parking in the vicinity. Some university lots, including the large one across Illinois Street on the north end of Krannert Center, may be open and available but check the signs to see when permits are enforced. The lot across from the north side of Krannert Center is free for the public on weekends and evenings, but may fill up quickly due to the influx of traffic for Commencement weekend.
The Department of Chemistry participates in the Illinois Campus-wide Commencement Ceremony. For more information on the Illinois Commencement Ceremony, visit the Illinois Commencement webpage.
